Reasons Why WhatsApp will take over Nigeria’s Communication Network

How WhatsApp will take over Nigeria’s Communication Network and cause huge lose to network providers.

Whatsapp is really growing to the stage in Nigeria where it will surely cause a loss to Nigerian Network providers, I won’t mention names since you already know them. Whatsapp is currently playing an important role in Nigerian Business now, now 90% of business controllers have now moved their communications to whatsapp and the reason is because their conversation will not be lost, easily arranged (tidy) with an appealing interface and whatsapp also made our list of 10 popular android apps used by android users in Nigeria.

Last month (November 2015) whatsapp was the second most used social network in the whole world according to statista(a website that gives facts in figures about entities) it had over 900 million active users following Facebook of 1500+ active users, can you notice the margin is not much since we all know that Facebook is the market leader of all social media, can you imagine that even whatsapp surpassed the likes of Instagram and twitter .You can view the screenshot taken from statista below with a mobile phone.

Here are the reasons why Whatsapp will cause a huge loss to Nigerian network providers well i pray they should look for alternatives because Whatsapp is here to stay and it is affordable;

Less Expensive:- When you are talking about cheap method of sending message to a person then you have to use whatsapp, I know you would say why is whatsapp an option for me sending a message to a partner of mine or my pal. Lets do the mathematics, supposing you want to send an article to your friend concerning an event you would like he/she to know, lets say the letters in the article is 300+ and the number of letters/words you can send using an sms is 160, now tell me you have to split into two or the network will do that for you if you are using an android phone or a higher gadget, I hope you are still reading because I would like to show you something here, lets take MTN for example, the normal charges for SMS to an MTN network is 4 Naira and to other networks is 8 naira or more, now lets say am sending to other network breaking it into two part and sending it to the same number will cost me nothing less than 16 naira. Those of us that are used to whatsapp will know that even though i send a lengthy articles will not cost me upto that amount if i am using Pay as You Go which is 5 kobo per kilobyte whereas the article is not up to a kilobyte, can you see how much I spent sending the same message to the same person using different means.

It also has a feature that gives you the opportunity to make calls with your whatsapp contacts without having airtime but it makes use of your internet subscription, Whatsapp does want to send our network providers away by using the Skype feature but you know what they are making a hell of income using us to enrich themselves but are you going to blame them? I am not blaming them since they are also experiencing expenses daily which is a must for them to maintain their service. You can make calls using whatsapp with any of your contacts that is also using whatsapp easily without experiencing network problem if you have internet running on your device and that is a good feature that plays an important role in Nigerian Business management though this feature is only enabled on some devices such as android devices and I believe that next year every one in Nigeria will own an android phone because it is very very cheap and affordable.

SENDING OF PICTURES:- what pops into your mind now is pictures can also be sent using MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) yes I agree with you MMS can be used but what of the cost of sending it? the minimum charges set for the sending of multimedia is tagged not less than 60 naira, Ok tell me, supposing you want to send 10 pictures? then you have to prepare nothing less than 600 naira to send 10 pictures, where as using whatsapp you just have to subscribe for 10MB with 100 Naira on any network and send pictures as you like according to the size of the images. The cost of messaging is not only the cause what if the device cannot receive multimedia messaging at that time pertaining to the capability of the network the receiver is using.

LOCATION INDEPENDENT :- Whatsapp is independent of the location or the network of the area of your contact before you can reach him/her through Whatsapp, the cost of sending local messages from Nigerian to other to another country is exorbitant(very expensive), here is where whatsapp does the job nicely.

This post is just what i thought whatsapp is going to do and I am pretty sure Nigerians will use whatsapp massively and discover the potentials behind whatsapp.

Dear reader you have a read a nice post today and we would like to tell you that we always add new content always check back
